Jesus, the One Who Sees in Secret and Rewards Openly

Something stated more than once in the Bible is often an invitation to pay more attention and think deeply about it. In Matthew 6, Jesus said these words at least three times:

“Your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”

The first instance focused on giving (Matthew 6:3-4). The second time, Jesus connected the phrase to prayer (Matthew 6:7). The third time, He was talking about fasting (Matthew 6:17-18).

What do these three instances remind us today? We are reminded to cultivate a heart-to-heart relationship with Jesus. As Christians, our motivation is to act according to God’s will, not for others to see and applaud our actions.

God weighs our hearts in the big and little things. May we live in such a way that we will hear Him say:

“Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!”
Matthew 25:21, NIV

Prayer: Thank you, Lord Jesus, for always being with us. You see everything we do, and You help us to walk according to Your will. May we stand strong, knowing that You see all secret actions, and You reward in the open. In Your mighty name we pray, Amen.
