Jesus said that wisdom is proved right by her deeds (Matthew 11:19). Many claim to be wise, to have acquired the wisdom of the ages. They claim to apply knowledge with insight and discernment, navigating situations effectively and making choices that benefit them and others.
However, even the best humans fail. We all make occasional bad choices and often fail ourselves and others. Only Jesus has walked on earth as a man without making a single bad choice. He is the only one who did not fail Himself or us. He was known for walking in wisdom and miraculous power.
He began teaching the people in their synagogue, and they were amazed. “Where did this man get this wisdom and these miraculous powers?” they asked.
Matthew 13:54, NIV
This begs the question: when we are at the crossroads of life, who will we look to? Will we look to fellow humans, as gifted and capable as they are, for life guidance, or will we look to Jesus?
Jesus is the ultimate source of wisdom. Isn’t it better to get wisdom directly from the source?
May we trust Jesus to guide the course of our lives today.

Prayer: Thank you for another new day Lord Jesus. I pray that we look to you first when faced with major life decisions. Help us to know and trust that you are with us, and you will always lead and guide us. Amen.
