Sometimes, I wish I could see the future. If only there were a way to view my full life on earth, from start to finish. A thought in me says that if I saw it all, I would find rest when storms come.
This thought is not truth. Rest does not come by knowing what lies ahead. Rest comes when we trust the one who created us. Rest comes when we trust that He is with us.
The storm rages, and sometimes we are afraid.
In those moments, God gently calls to us.
He reminds us that He is present, and He is in control.
So we find rest today in you Lord Jesus.
Even when we do not know what the future holds and the storm rages.
We rest in you because you hold us in your hands.
When you pass through the waters,
I will be with you.
And when you pass through the rivers,
They will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire,
You will not be burned;
The flames will not set you ablaze.
Isaiah 43:2, NIV
Prayer: Lord, we thank you today for your promise to be with us. We can rest because we know that you are with us. Thank you for carrying us through the storms of life. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for giving us eternal life and hope through salvation.
Jesus, we honor and lift your holy name today. Amen.
