Today’s devotional is inspired by a song that was one of my favorites when I came to Christ. The song says:
I’ve got all these plans, piled up sky high,
A thousand dreams on hold, and I don’t know why,
I’ve got a front row seat to the longest wait,
And I just can’t see past the things I pray today,
But when I fix my eyes on all that You are,
Every doubt I feel deep in my heart grows strangely dim.
When life becomes difficult, let’s fix our eyes on Jesus. Everything else will grow dim as He shines brightly in our lives.
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.
Hebrews 12:1-2(a), NIV

Prayer: Our heavenly father, today we pray that you help us to stay focused on You. Let earthly things become dim and less attractive as we keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith. This we pray, believing and trusting in Jesus’ name. Amen.
