Jesus, The One Who Equips Those He Sends

We serve an almighty, all-loving and powerful God. All resources are at His fingertips, and He will never order what He will not pay for. When God asks us to do something, He provides all the resources we need to do it.

For instance, when Jesus sent out His disciples to go and preach, He gave them the power needed to drive out demons:

Calling the Twelve to him, he began to send them out two by two and gave them authority over impure spirits.
Mark 6:7, NIV

The disciples needed nothing else. The assignment to go preach, and the power to drive out demons was sufficient. Jesus told them not to carry any extras. Any other need they had was met through divine provision.

What was the result?

They went out and preached that people should repent. They drove out many demons and anointed many sick people with oil and healed them.
Mark 6:12-13, NIV

The disciples followed Jesus’ instructions and achieved His commission. When Jesus calls, all we have to do is obey. We may have to stop and drop some things to fully obey, but when we do, we exchange those things for His divine equipping. When Jesus equips us, we run our race faithfully and win!

Prayer: Our father, today we pray for divine strength and equipping. Help us to fully obey and release everything into Your hands. Lead us, equip us, and help us to carry out the assignment You have given us faithfully. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen!
