How God’s Love Allows Us To Live Freely

I remember a time when I broke my mother’s favorite glass. In that moment, I was afraid. Many times she had told us kids to be careful when handling glasses and other fragile items in the house. I had been helping to wash the dishes, and the soap on the glass caused it to slip out of my hands.

To my young mind, there was no way my mother could forgive this accident. I did not intentionally break the glass, but thoughts in my mind still said that I should have known better and handled the glass with more care.

And so I waited for my mother’s verdict. You can imagine how surprised I was when she casually said, “Don’t worry, accidents happen,” and we continued washing dishes. It felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders. There was no more condemnation for breaking the cup.

My experience is a tiny glimpse of how it feels to have the condemnation of sin lifted by our loving Father, through Jesus. When we accept Jesus, He sets us free from the weight of guilt and shame. We are set free to live our lives in the fullness of His grace and mercy. We become more than conquerors in Him.

Are you free today? Have you fully accepted the saving love of our Lord Jesus Christ?

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for setting us free. Thank you for your mercy and grace. Help us today to walk with you in all we do, that we may experience the fullness of the freedom you offer us. In your precious name Jesus, we pray, Amen.
